Just Another Saturday

Instead of the most wonderful time of year it should be called the most stressful time of year. I think my husband is in uber-stress mode being that I haven't supplied him with any present ideas and have basically told him I don't want him buying me anything. Period. My focus is on watching my son enjoy his Christmas. I don't particularly need anything at the moment so it's not a priority. Sure, I'd love to lose some weight or take a trip somewhere exotic or have another baby. But at this point it looks like those are not viable options. So instead, I shall stick to my holiday baking, start the tedium of wrapping what I've bought for others and collapse by the end of the evening into an exhausted heap of dishevelment.

Today was a day of running errands - groceries, Canadian Tire and the local feed mill (as I love to say, "to stock up on supplies"). We feed the birds around here and they go through the seed pretty quickly now that the ground has not shown any hints of green in over a month. Could that be contributing to my cynical synopsis of life? Hmmm...I spent the bulk of the afternoon cleaning my home - with my son's help of course. What 7 year old boy likes to tout rubber gloves and a toilet scrubber? Well, mine does.

So as we all hunker down and prepare for the winter storm that's heading our way, I shall go put my son to bed and maybe catch an hour to veg in front of 48 Hours Mysteries. Goodnight.

Long Weekend

With this being the first long weekend of the season, we are sticking close to home. Today's absolutely beautiful and must be enjoyed. Of course, there are always the usual list of weekend "chores" to do (i.e. laundry, tidying up, walking the poochies etc.)...but I am stopping right now to take a break. My son is outside playing with a friend from school who lives nearby, my hubby is outside tending the garden and I am sneaking a moment at my computer to see how my Internet life is unfolding. Shortly we must get organized for a birthday party my son has been invited to - it's at an indoor play gym where they will play laser tag (whatever that is)...I'm hoping it won't last too long as I'm tired and drained at the moment. I never like attending these things where I don't know any of the other adults. I've always been somewhat uncomfortable at new social scenes. Oh well, it's only 2 hours max. How tough can that be to endure? About 1 hr. 59 minutes too long for me! LOL...

Niagara Falls

Life with me is never dull that's for sure. It's always an adventure as I hear from anyone close to me. And this weekend was no different. There is a story behind this comment, but I'm in no mood to write about it. Niagara Falls was as magnificent as always, aside from the not so brilliant weather. The wind was like a hurricane and the clouds and drizzly mist made for a cold, wet experience. But standing next to the Falls is always a moment to stare in awe. The sheer power of that volume of water rushing over such an enormous area is truly one of nature's greatest productions. The sound of the rushing water is like a dull freight train in the background that never stops. I got to thinking...this waterfall has been roaring like this for thousands of years and every day it just keeps on going in a never-ending flood. It makes a person feel pretty small and insignificant in the big picture.

Off for the Weekend...

Well, I'm running around like a mad hen today...soon I'll be off for the weekend to Niagara Falls with my family. We decided that we just needed to get away for a weekend and have a change of scenery. Hopefully the weather will cooperate, because it can be uncomfortable to be walking around near the Falls when it's windy and cold. Somehow, the spray feels much better in the heat of summer! So I must quickly finish this post, after just placing more purses on my website, then get all the dog stuff organized, rush them over to the vet where they will stay, then rush to pick up my son from school, drive over to my husband's office and then we will be off for a mini-vacation...ahhh....much needed break.
