Long Wait at the Border

So we are almost home now from our journey. Today was a really long wait at the U.S./Canada border. We were stopped at the on-ramp at Port Huron, MI. The traffic was stopped everywhere on the way to the toll booth. It took us 40 minutes just to get to the toll because they kept shutting it down, I presume to allow some of the endless traffic to cross over the bridge. Sometimes I wonder if it's not just a stall tactic to annoy travellers. It then took another half an hour to get over the bridge and to the customs and immigration booth. Luckily that was fast once we got there. And the officer in the booth was actually friendly and smiley - an unheard of thing usually.

After what seemed like a very long drive, we finally arrived in London, ON where we will spend the night at our families' houses. My parents made a great dinner for us and now it's just time to relax. I'm anxious now to go pick up my dogs tomorrow morning at the kennel and get home. Time to get back into exercise and healthy eating after a very fattening past week.
